Howard’s Wine of the Month – October 2013
Chateau Grand Corbin – Saint Émilion Grand Cru Classé – 2009 – Bin No 89
“Wow, simply stunning!”, were the words used to describe this beautiful Bordeaux on our first tasting. It would also appear Mr Robert Parker would agree with us and boldly stated the 09 Bordeaux Vintage is, “quite possibly the best in 32 years.”
The wine is produced on a small 30-acre Chateau which lies on the border of Pomerol. The 67% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc composition creates a rich wine with wonderful expression of dark berry fruits, providing endless layers of sensual pleasure. Adding to the experience are overtones of nutmeg, cinnamon and mocha creating an unrivalled wine tasting experience. If you have the willpower to hold off from drinking this wine now, 10 years in the cellar will help to mature and develop a more complex palate. Available at £799 for a 12 bottle original wooden case. Please contact us to place your order.
