Hey there, it’s me Sue, your friendly PA for Howard, and Chris at Charles Mitchell Wines. It’s been quite the journey since I hopped on board in June 2001 – 24 vintage years of awesomeness! 

Originally hailing from the fabulous Yorkshire town of Harrogate and later making the shift to Irlam in 1981, I joined the Charles Mitchell Wines crew in 2001. My job involves orchestrating some fantastic events like the Gourmet Wine Tasting shindigs and the yearly Christmas Wine Tasting extravaganza. On top of that, I’m the bridge between our brilliant clients and the amazing wine producers from around the world. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting incredible people, producers, and clients who all relish the Charles Mitchell Wines experience.

January 2025 marks the start of 24 years with Howard and Chris. It feels like just yesterday, and let me tell you, these years have been peppered with unforgettable moments.

Here’s a twist – when I first set foot in the Charles Mitchell’s world, I was quite clueless about wine (think sipping Hock or Liebfraumilch level!). Red wine? Nah, not really my thing. But Howard took it upon himself to change that. And while he’s made some headway in turning me into a red wine appreciator, I wouldn’t say I’ve gone full red, but I’ve certainly developed a taste for the good stuff.

Right now, I’m head over heels for the 2019 Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Romuald Valot – a red wine that’s nothing short of stunning.
When it comes to whites, I’m all about that Sauvignon Blanc vibe. The 2021 Pouilly Fumé ‘Plaisir’ from Domaine Pabiot and the 2020 Louis Vavasour Reserve Sauvignon have my heart. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the 2021 Albariño – Santiago Roma – it’s like bottled joy, perfect for any occasion. And let’s not forget the 2019 Puligny Montrachet – Romuald Valot – it’s simply gorgeous.
