What is going on with this weather ???
Just back from a fabulous trip to France, /tasting/reserving/buying… it’s not easy….
The dinner on the first evening set the tone to a very high calorie week… ‘amuse bouche’ of créme brulee/foie gras, I coulde feel my arteries closing.
Fleurie first stop, Chantell and Eric proudley showing the top award for our Fleurie ‘Cadole’ (the current Mrs Domney’s patio choice) the award was made by local artist of a lion made from cutlery/tastevin/serviette holders etc.. see gallery photos.
We then travelled North to Beaune to see our chums the ‘Girards’ in Beaune for a strenuous tasting followed by lunch on the patio.
Late afternoon Gevery Chambertin beckoned, north again to Pierre Bourée with Bernard and his father Louis (God of Burgundy) more tasting I am afraid followed by an excellent dinner. Louis opened some very special wines to celebrate our 30 year union including Magnums of 1976 Chambertin (yes that’s not a typo – 1976).
After a very sound sleep z z z z z z z z z z we travelled North again to a Champagne lunch in the vineyards of Franck Bonville with our great friends and sampled some special Champagnes including 1979 Belles Voyes.
Then on to A R Lenoble, consistant quality from this traditional house, a fine way to round off a very serious week…..
Hope to see my regulars and new wine friends at the Summer Shows. Please see website for details.
Cheers
